Objective
This partnership is all about opening doors for students and teachers in the world of e-tourism. We will find ways to encourage sustainable tourism, which means traveling responsibly concerning the planet and local communities. Through joint work, new opportunities for the cooperation of students, academic staff, and researchers from both universities in sharing their results are being created. They intend to provide exchange programs for both students and faculty and generate innovation through mutual talks, meetings, online courses, and guest lectures. It will create new ideas and bring together the different cultural perspectives in the field of educational travel.
About the University of Colombo

About the Sustainable Tourism Unit
The Sustainable Tourism Unit at the University of Colombo works towards the development of sustainable tourism in Sri Lanka. First, of its kind among universities in Sri Lanka, the unit aims to make use of the resource pool provided by all social science departments to find ways of supporting sustainable tourism practices. The focus of the unit will thus be to raise awareness and inculcate the best industry practices into the Sri Lankan tourism sector. It is poised to understand tourist behavior, community participation, and policies that will make the benefits of tourism meaningful to everybody. During his visit, he met with Professor D.A.C. Suranga Silva on matters related to the development of the “Sustainable Tourism Unit.” They discussed several ways in which they would collaborate academically and create greater opportunities for students concerning research and other activities. The discourse intends to deepen the understanding and exploration of global perspectives about educational tourism.
