Faculty Development Program on Industry 5.0: Human-Centric Smart Manufacturing: 21st – 26th JULY, 2025
About FDP:
Department of Mechanical Engineering, School of Engineering, Vikrant University organized a six-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Industry 5.0: Human-Centric Smart Manufacturing” from 21st – 26th July 2025. This unique program witness the participation of a large section of academicians, researchers and industry representatives to discuss the future of Manufacturing where use of technology and human ingenuity come together.
The FDP commenced on July 21st, 2025 with a grand opening session where Dr. P. S. Chauhan, Vice Chancellor Vikrant University gave a remarkable welcome address while stressing that academia is required to keep pace with changes occurring in industry. The lighting of ceremonial lamp represented the zeal for knowledge and innovation, and followed by Prof. Ravi Kumar Dwivedi (MANIT, Bhopal) who was the Chief Guest and gave an intellectual keynote about human-machine collaboration, sustainable development and resilience on central manufacturing system in Industry 5.0.
On subsequent six days there were total ten sessions, industry visit, hands-on training and group discussions.Renowned presenters such as Er. Sachin Agrawal, (Volvo Eicher) and Mr. Bhupendra Singh Thakur, (Robotronix), ventured into the topics of Artificial Intelligence, IoT, and big data in smart manufacturing, while Dr. Santosh Bhagwat Rane (SPCE, Mumbai) discussed cyber-physical systems and digital twins. There was also a component of a discussion about workforce transformation, where Prof. Akshay Dvivedi (IIT Roorkee) elaborated on skill development with respect to Industry 5.0. A special feature of the program was Mr. Prahlad Singh Yadav’s (Brahma Kumari) mention of positive thinking and work-life balance to inject a humanistic perspective into the learning of Industry 5.0 principles.
The FDP program finished with Dr. Anupma Agarwal (Parul University), who discussed sustainable manufacturing and the circular economy and reinforced the ethical and environmental responsibilities to support Industry 5.0. All of the participants left with greater insight and practical experiences as well as a third dimension of getting the commitment to taking the next steps to incorporate the changes to industry 5.0 into their teaching and research.
The message and vision from this program was not only to connect academia and industry, but to encourage faculty to define the next future of smart, and human-centered manufacturing. Hence, Vikrant University will continue to foster more innovation, collaboration, and excellence in the teaching of engineering.
