Formal education is often referred to as completion of degree or diploma often associated with the cramming of formulae, theorems, derivations, facts and exceptions; but when it comes to applying them it in real world, almost a majority draws blank. Rethink, was the cramming and writing the exam was supposed to be the real agenda behind completion of formal degree? Certainly, No!
It was about equipping us the with the rudimentary skills to navigate the complexities that will be encountered in the life. The agenda was to develop the subtle art of critical thinking, problem solving and acquiring human skills.
The basic idea of this blog therefore goes beyond and in-fact, far beyond the concept of just having diplomas and degrees and hand. It’s about fostering the ability to bridge the gap between what we learn and how we use it.
As a matter of fact, we practiced Math, not just to solve some equations. We did it to use the numbers in order to perform trend analysis, strategic thinking and planning along with making factual and calculative decision.
Physics was not about the forces, actions and its reactions, but it was about the direction in which it was applied. Similarly, if some one is just doing hard work and if the direction of the same is improper, then hard work becomes waste work which has to be reworked. The Chemistry isn’t limited to reactions in a lab; it’s a metaphor for the relationships we build in life and the way we deal with the people (catalyst or poison) around us.
Summing up, it is all about initiating the critical thinking, developing problem solving skills, fostering adaptability and nurturing human skills withing one self.
While this blog post is just an epi-center for a much-needed conversation, the reader is expected to rethink and if required reread the blog to grasp the idea with which this blog was written and with which the formal education was initiated.
At the end, we at Vikrant University, gives the importance of such education which promotes the knowledge, personality and the logical thinking ability and we are indeed privilege to adapts the idea of such education system.
